“2 years ago I started with IronWorks shortly after I had a cardiac procedure and had previously torn labrums in both hips. I am a non-runner turned marathoner and triathlete. I am not fast. However, in my first season with Coach Loran I got a new marathon PR by 20 minutes, in a sprint triathlon I placed 1st in my age group and 3rd women overall. Not too shabby for a then 49 year old grandmother! When the inevitable flare up of my previously injured hips occurred, Coach Loran kept me fit by various unique cross training and I was able to complete my third Ironman in a good time for me. I know I would not have been able to complete the Ironman, let alone in good time, if Coach had not worked closely with me and my ever changing hip status. Now that I am post surgeries of both hips, Coach Loran has me getting stronger and stronger for the upcoming season. I know I will be ready. Through everything and all the challenges, Coach Loran never let us forget or understand that Faith and Family come first. Thanks Coach!”

“Training for the Boston Marathon, the 1st goal that I told Loran was that I wanted to get to the starting line healthy. Running has taken its’ toll on me, and I wanted to be sure that I would be able to start the race. Not only have I been the healthiest I have been I have finally hit my true stride with the training, getting results that, I didn’t think I could achieve. Sometimes validation like that is the greatest motivator. Loran is a fantastic coach, he truly takes into account your lifestyle and goals, and comes up with a great training plan to accommodate both. So happy he is my coach!”
-Adam T., Boston Marathon qualifier
“From Day 1, I felt safe and comfortable in Coach Loran’s class. His coaching style and workout routines gave me the confidence I needed to resume exercising after an injury. He has a clear passion for fitness and a gift for challenging and motivating students at all levels of fitness — from beginners to advanced.”

“I have known Loran for 12 years. When I first met Loran, he was actually my boss at a previous company where he and I worked. In that situation and now, as a trainer and my running coach, he has proved to be very supportive, motivating and inspirational. He connects with people in such a way that you just want to be a better person for knowing him. He helped me become better at what I do in my career and he helped me succeed at running my first half marathon at age 45. He is a great man!”
-Barb, first-time 1/2 Marathon runner
“It feels great to head to work in the morning knowing you have done a harder workout than 99% of the people you are around. Get your heart pumping giving all that you have, with other people having the same goal- living healthier.
After years of daily back pain, after 3 months of Loran’s workouts, I realized I was waking up pain free every day. The core workouts and strength exercises have made me stronger, and my life better. I had forgotten how great it feels to feel great.
Thanks Loran!”

“Loran, you’ve done the impossible – you made me get up early in the morning, use muscles I didn’t know I had, run harder than I thought possible and I’ve had a blast doing it! Yes it’s been hard work but it’s been so rewarding! Thank you!”
-Elizabeth G., Personal Training Client
“Coach Loran has been my coach for approximately 2 1/2 years. His experience as a coach,, combined with his athletic achievements and personality, allows him to help athletes of all ages and skill levels reach their goals. Despite having run marathons for nearly 10 years, I didn’t qualify for the Boston Marathon until I was under the guidance of Loran. With Loran’s help, I have achieved a PR (personal record) not only with running a marathon, but with all distances of triathlon and each individual aspect of Ironman distance triathlon. I’m now in my 50′s and, with Loran’s help, plan to set additional PR’s in the future!”
-Mark B., triathlete/Boston Marathon qualifier
“Loran I can’t believe you have made “ME” a non-runner into a half marathon finisher. With your faith, guidance and workouts I was able to believe that me being overweight did not determine my race, but begining the race and being that 1% to try was the race. Thank you for helping me achieve something that I never thought I would do.”
-Angela, first-time 1/2 Marathon runners
“First, for me, the classes were crucial in establishing an early strength training base, especially the core area. It was a great, group atmosphere, that made it fun coming to class even though some of the classes were testing our limits physically. This not only helped establish an early fitness level, it also helped me drop some weight well in advance of the triathlon season. For someone who hates getting up early, I didn’t want to miss any of the 5:30am classes.”
-James H., triathlete
“Ironworks fitness classes are different every time, making them challenging and inspiring amongst a great group of people who are always encouraging no matter what your fitness level!”

“Coach Loran,
Wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all of your help over the past couple of years.
When I came to you I had only been involved with endurance running for a couple years, but I was discouraged! As much as I enjoyed running the constant pain had robbed me of the enjoyment of running and caused me to want to get the run over with versus enjoying the experience. I didn’t want to lose the opportunity to compete in some aspect but my body was done just running. That’s where you got involved.
After a subtle (or not so subtle) hint from Coach Loran I decided I would do a Triathlon. I had not ridden a bike since I was a child and had NEVER been in pool with lanes. I thought the only way to get into a pool was by doing a cannon ball and splashing the lifeguard. (Frowned upon at the HLC)
After a few short months I accomplished my goal of finishing a Sprint Distance Triathlon. I have rekindled my love of biking and find myself riding for hours at a time. I can now SWIM distances I once didn’t like to RUN. And I again LOVE running, and do it pain free faster than I have ever run. My body now excepts everything that I throw at it and my goals are changing to attempt greater distances. Half Ironman’s are the next box I would like to check and from there who knows. Thank you!
The thing I enjoy even more than personal accomplishments is I again belong to a team and no team is complete without a great coach. The individuals that are on Team Ironworks have become some of my closest friends. No matter what level you are athletically you are accepted by Team Ironworks and that is a testament to your leadership and the program you have developed. I thank you for Team Ironworks, and I thank you for helping me and my family enjoy an adventurous and active life!”

Dear Loran,
Thank you for being an encourager, a coach, mentor and a wonderful friend to my son Nick. I am so proud to see the words triathlete/runner after his name…….words I never expected to be connected to his life. God is blessing many through the joyful giving of yourself.
